Brigalow Gas Peaking Plant

The Brigalow Gas Peaking Plant, developed by a CS Energy - APA Group Partnership, is a 400 MW power plant located near Chinchilla, in the Queensland Western Downs region. The project includes delivery of a Natural Gas Peaking Plant comprising 12 GE Aeroderiative Turbines, to be located adjacent to the existing Kogan Creek Power Station. The Plant is expected to connect to the existing Roma-Brisbane Pipeline via a proposed 21-kilometre spur line.

Funding contributions

The project is being delivered through a Partnership between CS Energy and APA Group on a 20:80 ownership basis, which will see CS Energy operate and maintain the facility. APA’s 80 per cent share of the plant will be contracted to CS Energy under a 25-year hedge offtake agreement.

PROJECT HISTORY

Jul 2025 APA Group finalised a Project Development Agreement with CS Energy to deliver a gas pipeline between the Roma-Brisbane Pipleine and the proposed facility.
Oct 2025 CS Energy entered into a gas supply agreement with Senex.
Dec 2025 CS Energy and APA Group entered into a Joint Development Agreement to deliver the project. The agreement outlines a 20:80 ownership share between the parties, and provisions for APA's 80 per cent share to be contracted to CS Energy under a 25-year hedge offtake agreement.
Jun 2026 CS Energy awarded Monadelphous a Balance of Plant contract to deliver the project.
