The proposed Smoky Creek and Guthrie’s Gap Solar Power Stations project involves the delivery of a solar farm and battery project, located across two separate sites. The project is being developed by Edify Energy.
The full scope of works includes:

a 720-megawatt solar farm

a 600-megawatt / 2.4-gigawatt hour battery energy storage system

connection to Powerlink’s 275 kV transmission network, and
-
DC-coupled solar and battery architecture.

| Mar 2025 | Rio Tinto announced a power purchase agreement for 90 per cent of capacity of the Smokey creek wind farm and adjacent Guthrie's Gap solar farm. |
| Oct 2025 | The project was awarded a Capacity Investment Scheme Agreement as part of the Capacity Investment Scheme Tender Round Four. |
| Mar 2026 | DT Infrastructure was selected as the preferred EPC contractor for the project. |
| May 2026 | Edify Energy formally awarded DT Infrastructure the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract, and reached financial close on the Smoky Creek and Guthrie’s Gap Solar Power Stations. Construction is expected to commence this year and be completed by 2028. |
