Texas Solar Farm

The Texas Solar Farm is a proposed solar and BESS facility to be located near the town of Texas, 90 kilometers north of Inverell, NSW.

The scope of the facility includes:

  • a 400-megawatt solar farm
  • a 550-megawatt / 2200-megawatt-hour BESS, and
  • an onsite substation.

The project is proposed by FRV Services Australia.

PROJECT HISTORY

Mar 2024 FRV Australia submitted a scoping report for the project and requested the Secretary's Environmental Assessment Requirements (SEARs). The Scoping Report outlined the proposed scope, including a 400-MW solar farm and 200-MW / 800-MWh battery.
May 2024 The SEARs were issued for the project.
Apr 2026 The NSW Department of Planning, Industry, and the Environment issued supplementary SEARs for the project to satisfy bilateral assessment requirements under the EPBC Act.
Dec 2028 The project was referred to the EPBC Act Portal for environmental assessment.
